Photosynth: The best thing since Google Earth

with 2 comments

In late July I spoke about Photosynth being released soon. Well, late last year it was! I’ve been playing with it this evening and all I can say is WOW. It takes a huge collection of JPEGs, runs them through a system which works out how they relate to eachother, and the builds a 3D world based upon them. The interface is beautiful and the feeling of immersion is astounding. This is what technology should be about. It is ubdoubtably the coolest toy since Google Earth. You are missing out if you don’t go play with this right now!

  1. Hmmmmm…interesting observation and relationship. Check out a video here http://soapbox.msn.com/video.aspx?vid=29044001-e085-4464-a3d5-a519a53feda8 showing potential between Virtual Earth and Photosynth…we’ll be able to explore our world in whole new ways!

  2. Hey Rob thanks for the video – very interesting. Virtual Reality (as such) is truly going to be a possibility. I can’t wait ’til we can add our own collections to Pho! Thats when it really gets interesting :)
