Engaged
I’d like to formally announce that Amy and I are engaged, and we both couldn’t be happier!
On December 24th, 2008 I picked Amy up after work and took her to Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens for a picnic. It was perfect. I had the ring hidden safely away in a bag, a one-of-a-kind 18ct Yellow Gold and 0.56ct Diamond ring which I had only collected from the designer that morning!
We climbed a particularly beautiful rolling hill of lawn and threw a picnic blanket down. She had not idea of what was about to transpire.
Several minutes later, to the surprise of Amy and several picnic’ers who had watched me get down on one knee, I had a fiancé! I called our waiting parents who had been hiding out, awaiting our call. They brought up large amounts of Champagne and we toasted the best day of our lives thus far!
Here’s to an awesome 2009! I’ll be posting here as we plan the wedding!
Merry Christmas
Tim
Departing for Malaysia
Farewell! I’m off to Malaysia for two weeks. We fly at 11:30am tomorrow (friday) morning and will be back 12 July. Can’t wait… it been two years since my last real holiday, and Amy & My first trip together (albei it with parentals)
I’ll be posting as many photos as the Island Internet will allow.
Day at Ratanga Junction Theme Park
A few… well… 14 of us headed to Ratanga Junction Theme Park just outside Cape Town today. Posted below is the photo of us going down Crocodile Gorge – most fun. My darling amy decided to learn forward to avoid the drenching waterfall only to have her lower half soaked by the larger-than-expected stream of water gushing down the rocks.

Amy sick
Ah my girlfriend amy has got Sinusitis it seems. We went out last night to a braai at the minister’s house but by 9pm she was *not* looking good so I took her home. She’s just sleeping today but it’s really sore. All the tubes and surrounds get inflamed and hurt.
From Wikipedia.org
Sinusitis is inflammation of the paranasal sinuses from either bacterial, fungal, viral, allergic or autoimmune issues.Therapeutic measures range from the medicinal to the traditional and may include simple analgesics (such as aspirin, paracetamol (acetaminophen) or ibuprofen), inhaling steam, nasal irrigation or jala neti using a warm saline solution, hot drinks including tea and chicken soup, over-the-counter decongestants, prescription nasal sprays, and getting plenty of rest. If sinusitis doesn’t improve within 48 hours, or is causing significant pain, one should see a doctor, who may prescribe antibiotics or nasal steroids. If the recommended doses and duration of antibiotic treatment(s) are ineffective, one should reconsult a doctor; who may suggest further treatment by a specialist.
Hopefully she’ll be better by Monday.
Quite a long break
Hi all,
So it looks like i’ve been missing in action for the past week or so. Tonight I figured it was time for a come-back. And what better way than with a shiny new theme. Its a little slower than the old one but graphically its stunning. Credits to the brilliant designer are at the bottom of the blog, I just edited it a little for personalisation and customisation.
So, this week has been really really busy for both Amy and I… and my next week is even more interesting. Amy’s been finishing up her Teaching Prac’s which she posted off today in one big parcel at a cost of R70. She had to include all the media she had made for the lessons, photographs of her board schemes, reports from the teacher marking her, and personal reflections on each item to name but a few. You can understand the stress and length of time in getting this together!
I wrote a CompSci test (got 74%), Maths Test, CompSci Practical Test, and Maths Mini-Test in the past three days. My next week is as follows:
Saturday: Finish CompSci Tutorial (due Mon), Do Psychology Essay (due Thursday). Edit SAPA DVD.
Sunday: Study Chapters 1 – 3 of Statistics for Test on Monday at 5pm. Submit CompSci Tutorial.
Monday: Hand in CompSci Tutorial, do Maths Workshop (2pm-4pm). Write Stats test (5pm – 6:30pm).
Tuesday: Work on Psychology Essay.
Wednesday: Finish Psychology Essay, Due Psychology Tutorial.
Interesting week hey? Quite sad when one starts using one’s blog to plan out your week! hehehe.
Snow!
For a few weeks almost every year, the Ceres area of the Western Cape experiences heavy Snow-fall and thousands of families from the otherwise snow-forsaken country flock to the area to build snowmen, throw snowballs, and consume large quantity’s of alcohol (atleast, from what I gather).
Anyway – for the first time ever I was part of that crowd (well not the alcohol part) today! Amy, myself and her parents were up at 5am getting ready to leave by 6am and take the 2.5 hour trip to Ceres.
My dad has our Fuji digital still so I just had my Canon Digital Video and Amy’s Olympus (a really nice camera I might add) to take footage. These three are now on DeviantArt:
This and that
Hmmm its sometimes pretty hard to come up with a decent title for a blog post… Especially when you don’t really have anything deep to talk about. Well I’ve always got things to talk about but sometimes its hard to completely put down everything you would like to… mostly acredited to being just sleepy after a really nice day.
On Saturday evening I got to do something really really cool which I’m not able to post about yet but will be around 5 July (I hope) – was great! What an experience.
Last night I went over to Amy’s to enjoy a braai with Eva, Dave and the kids. They’re down from Dubai for Eva to give birth to their third child in late August. Her children are just so cool. Ivar has grown up lots and is looking as smart, confident and cool as usual and Tom-Tom is looking as cute, bright and interested as he was when I saw him 6 months ago. I took a bunch of photos of him that i’ll be ‘tarting (sorry, amy and my term for devianT ART) later this eve or tomo morn. I hope to see more of ‘em while they’re down.
Today was pretty much the first of my holiday. Yeah I’ve been away from University for a good while now but I’ve been working at Umoya.net and the such so much that I havent had a moment to fully relax. So waking up at about 9:30 I dodged my sick dad for fear of catching whatever he has and went to fetch amy. We finally got to the bank to sort out my new Student bank account thing before buying me a new pillow… I’ve been sleeping on the same pillows for longer than i’m willing to admit and frankly: my neck is tired of it!
I’ve been meaning to set up a proxy server here at home for a while so I finally got around to it today. Squid was simple, as was the dhcpd server… the issue was, and still is, the firewall rules… I can’t seem to get Transparent Firewalling working… Anyone who can help me with this will find great favour in my eyes. Hehe.
Tomorrow I have to go do the Dentist thing… hmmm shmeh… doing work on my front teeth which is a tad annoying because I’ll get to walk around with a really fat lip for 2 hours! Oh well!
Cheers!
